About Sara & Fernando
Sara & Fernando met in Mysore, India in 2006. Not long after they moved to Brazil where they opened an Ashtanga yoga school. They got married in 2008 and had their first daughter Heidi in 2009, a few years later Hanna was born. In 2013 they left their life in Brazil to travel for six months but they didn’t move back yet. They have mainly been teaching in Asia since then.
“Sara is a strong and busy mother of two, who manages to practice advance series of ashtanga yoga and keeps on teaching ashtanga yoga on a daily basis with passion and generosity.”
She was a creative Swedish textile designer who began practicing yoga initially just to calm down and relax. She left that world and went to a yoga ashram for one year in 1999. Her ashtanga journey began in London 2000 with Hamish Hendry who she also assisted for many years. Sara has been teaching around the world and has been going to Mysore almost every year since 2002. She was authorized by Sri K Pattbhi Jois in 2007 and received level two authorisation in 2010 from Sharath Jois.
“Fernando is a dynamic black belt Jiu Jitsu fighter, teaching ashtanga yoga with a warm heart and compassion. He is teaching daily, practicing ashtanga, training jiu jitsu and surfing.”
His yoga journey began while trying to recover his broken body after a very serious paraglide accident, initially with the goal of being able to practice JiuJitsu again. Fernando decided to go to India in 2005 and is one of the very few who went to Mysore without any previous ashtanga yoga experience. He was thinking of staying two months but ended up staying for two years, practicing with Sharath Jois. He has been going back yearly ever since. The yoga practice became a part of his life and has been key in helping him recover and regain control over his body. In 2010 he was authorised to teach the ashtanga yoga system.
